DSHS Web Service Mental Health (MH) Level of Care Calculator The following is applicable only to mental health services providers whose information systems use DSHS Web Service MH Level of Care Calculator.

1. Improvements have been made to the calculator so that it can calculate when a client is eligible for LOC-1M. To do this, two new fields have been added:

• Has the client been in another level of care for the past 12 months?

• Has the client been discharged from MH services within the last 90 days?

2. The calculator now accepts either value, “9” or “99”, for questions where the answer is “not applicable” (NA).

Mental Health Services Users
Mental Health Crisis Services (LOC-0) for Children and Adolescents Who Do Not Meet the Usual Criteria

Changes have been made to the Child MH Uniform Assessment (CUA) and the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths assessment (CANS) in CMBHS so that a client that does not have the scores necessary to trigger a Level of Care (LOC-0) for crisis services, can now be deviated into LOC-0. This change to the CUA causes it to now work the same as the Adult MH Uniform Assessment (AUA) in CMBHS.

How to Deviate a Client into LOC-0 Online:

• A LOC-0 can only be given to a client who does not currently have an open episode of care (EOC) or LOC in CMBHS.

• The previous CUA type, if the client has one, can be a Discharge, Crisis, or Initial (Non-Admission). The previous CUA type cannot be an Initial or Update.

• After completion of the CANS and calculation of a LOC that is not LOC-0, the MH Assessor can recommend a deviation to LOC-0.

• The MH Approver (utilization manager) can authorize the LOC-0.

• The CUA can be placed in Closed Complete status when the Community Data tab is complete.
